What is Multilink PPP?

Multilink PPP enables your computer to use two or more communications ports as if they were a single port of greater bandwidth. This means that if you use two modems to connect to the Internet, you can connect at DOUBLE the speed of a single modem.

I've never heard of Multilink PPP?

Multilink PPP is not new, but it was originally designed only for ISDN connections. Only recently has Multilink PPP been adapted to work with multiple modem connections. Multilink PPP is now supported by Windows 95, 98, 2000 and NT4.0.

What do I need for Multilink PPP?

1. An operating system that supports Multilink PPP

Windows NT supports Multilink PPP with a maximum of 4 modems. Service Pack 3 should be installed for better performance.
Windows 98 supports Multilink PPP with a maximum of 4 modems. The Dialup Networking Security upgrade should be installed for better performance.
Windows 95 will support Multilink PPP with a maximum of 2 modems if the Dialup Networking 1.3 upgrade is installed.

2. Two or more phone lines.

An ISP that supports Multilink PPP such as us.

Can any Internet Service Provider support Multilink PPP?

The ISP needs to install special hardware/software to support Multilink PPP. We have!

What kind of speed can I expect?

Our tests with Multilink PPP have been very promising. A speed improvement is definitely noticed. The speed achieved is equal to the number of modems times the speed of the slowest connection. For example, if Multilink PPP is used with two modems connected at 44k and 41.3k, then the achieved speed would be equivalent to: 2 * 41.3k = 82.6k (faster than a single channel ISDN line!!!)

How much does it cost?
